Bhubaneswar Changemakers was established as a citizen-led incubator to support youth-driven, sustainable solutions for a more inclusive and equitable city. Since 2021, a diverse range of initiatives has been implemented to engage young people, women, and marginalized communities in civic action. A community learning centre was set up for children from underserved backgrounds, a livability study was conducted for Ward 9, and safe spaces were created for women and transgender individuals through healing workshops and public events. Campaigns on plastic waste reduction, school infrastructure improvement, and community participation in governance have been launched and led by local cohorts. Over the years, four changemaker cohorts have been mobilized, and residents across age groups have been encouraged to identify local issues, co-develop solutions, and take ownership of their neighbourhoods—helping shape Bhubaneswar into a more informed, inclusive, and active city. This is led by Sameer and Bhagyabari.
